Who are Moderate Republicans?

What we aren’t.

Core Principles:

1. Country First.

We’re a growing caucus of citizens within the Republican Party who proudly uphold the traditions of Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Eisenhower. Many of us have been lifelong Republicans who now find ourselves aligned with a more traditional, pragmatic, and inclusive vision of the party distinct from the MAGA movement and evangelical wing.

Moderate Republicans believe in the core values that have long defined the GOP:

  • Limited government and fiscal responsibility.

  • Government transparency and accountability.

  • Free market capitalism and open economies rooted in innovation and individual enterprise.

  • National defense and global leadership in the defense of democracy.

  • Privacy rights, personal freedom, and personal responsibility.

We apply these values in ways that reflect the diverse and evolving perspectives of today’s electorate. Many moderates support a woman’s right to choose, recognize the legitimacy of gay marriage, and advocate for criminal justice policies that balance accountability with fairness.

We are bound together by deep patriotism, love for this country, and our commitment to a Republican Party that is civil, innovative, and focused on real solutions, not soundbites.

We always welcome debate, encourage diverse viewpoints, and believe the best ideas come not from division, but from principled discussion and shared purpose.

We’re not a mutiny, or a new party. We’re loyal Republicans, committed to revitalizing the party we’ve long called home.

We’re not afraid to speak our minds and enjoy political discussion and debate. We believe in the strength of our convictions and the power of civil discourse.

We believe in the value of compromise, but not in compromising our values. Our goal is to rebalance the party, to elevate responsible, constructive leadership and steer away from political extremes that divide rather than unite.

There is no single ideology required to belong, each individual brings their own unique set of political beliefs and diverse perspectives. however, most moderates consistently align with the following principles;

The Founding Fathers warned against the inherent dangers of an overly partisan system. As John Adams wrote, "There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution."  Today, our political system too often prioritizes power over principle, but party affiliation should never come before loyalty to our country.

2. Problem Solving.

Moderate republicans focus on solutions. They are action oriented problem solvers who possess the courage to experiment with new ideas in tangible ways. They recognize that innovative technologies and ideas are necessary to continue America's leading role in the world.

3. Consensus Building.

Moderate republicans value debate, but also professionalism and diplomacy. They believe that lasting progress is built on dialogue, not division, and that listening is just as important as speaking. They understand the benefits of fostering cooperation and consensus, starting within their own ranks. They value progress and will accept incremental advancement of their causes through compromise when necessary.

4. Critical Thinking.

Right-of-center voters are not of lazy mind. They do not want to be told what to believe or subscribe to a groupthink mentality. They value independent and objective information that they can use to develop opinions of their own. Information is their currency.

5. Truth Seeking.

Moderate republicans are loyal to the truth and always seek to defend it. They do not reject science, or manipulate statistics. They believe that representatives have an obligation to cultivate truth from varying perspectives and inform their constituents accordingly, irrespective of convenience.

6. Long-Term Views.

Short-term election cycles often undermine long-term initiatives. Right-of-center voters recognize long-term needs and value the strategic planning necessary to build our future.

7. Optimism.

Moderate republicans believe in the enduring strength and promise of the United States. They approach the future with optimism, grounded in a deep appreciation for our nation’s founding ideals and historical progress. They choose to see America not through a lens of cynicism, but with a belief in its capacity to improve, to unify, and to lead. Positive thinking fuels innovation, resilience, and civic engagement and we are committed to cultivating a forward-looking, hopeful spirit in our politics and among our people.

Modern thinking, timeless values.
